I don’t feel there’s a better podcast out there for French learning and quite surprised at how it can get anything but a five star rating.
A really thoughtful way of learning, done with heaps of enthusiasm.
Really well structured and have found it extremely useful.
Also love the later podcasts exploring different regions of the country, gaining local insight. Super!

The old episodes are really good, but the newer ones are focused on saying as little as possible to make you pay for premium. The most recent episodes are a joke the one about Monaco is a waste of time unless you like to listen to poor quality recordings of presenter’s holidays.

Such a great podcast!

The Coffee Break language podcasts are simply the best available, in my opinion. Highly recommended. An abundance of excellent material, whichever language you choose to learn or brush up on. Many thanks to Mark and the team for all their hard work. It's much appreciated.

If you are learning French and need to improve your listening and comprehension, this is a great way to do so. You also get to hear locals speak! This never dates - I’m listening 10 years later avec grand plaisir!

I've been learning French for nearly two years now and this has been a brilliant supplement to my lessons. I can listen to it in the car on my commute and try to make sure I listen to about 3-4 episodes a week. It's an easy way to get some practice in. I sometimes go back and re-play particular episodes on different topics if I want a reminder. The format is really easy and being able to pause and rewind is helpful if I want to spend more time learning something, but mostly the pace is spot on, not too fast or slow. The mixture between grammar and vocabulary is a good balance. The only thing lacking a bit is spelling, reading and writing, which is obviously difficult on a podcast. However, they do spell out words, especially when going through conjugations and different endings and the rest I get via my lessons or via apps.

This is a fantastic way to learn the French language. I have just started season 2 and already I feel that I have progressed more using coffee break French than any other learning method I have tried. Mark is an amazing teacher, he makes it all seem so logical and easy to understand.

CBF is a great series of podcasts that allowed me to rapidly get back up to speed (quite good at French at school, but that was 40 years ago). Perfect for listening to in the car to & from work. Some more tests of understanding and spaces to answer questions would be good but hey, I've paid nothing. I highly recommend all 4 series.

Not too challenging whilst highly informative. My friend recommended this to me due to my fear of losing my French after completing my language degree. Hope to keep my French topped up to a sufficient level until I make the move over there. Thanks!

As a shift worker i've never been able to fit in evening classes, so i had to go the DIY route. Scanned through a few CD products and other media all ok but radio lingua fits perfect. Who'd have thought it, a Scottish guy teaching a Welsh bloke French ! but it works. Mark and Anna's presentation is so laid back, but crystal clear i have trouble switching off after just one podcast.

Great work guys!

I've been studying French for a few years at school and whilst I've struggled I've stuck with it. This is my final year of A-levels and I just want to say a massive thank you to Mark, Pierre-Benoît and everyone involved in making this show. Finding this show has allowed me to improve my French and also enjoy it once again! Keep up the great work!

Never before have I come across a podcast that deals in depth with such complex and colloquial French that will truly benefit your conversational skills. I would recommend listening to episodes a few times at least (best when walking, driving, etc.) as it can be a lot to remember for just one listen.

Absolutely incredible, my boyfriends family are French and I am learning out of respect, they completely understand everything I say, I have started from the beginning and have been learning for about 5 months and have come on very quickly, learning much faster than I ever did in school French lessons

If you're a beginner, or have a little French knowledge from school, then this podcast is great. They move at a good pace - they don't dwell on topics/phrases, but still give plenty of opportunity to learn the topics/phrases of each episode.
If you want to learn solid, useful, conversational French, then I thoroughly recommend this podcast!

Big fan of Michel Thomas French teaching method, but this is great too. Listened to the 1st 10 podcasts or so and I am looking forward to getting into the whole series. The level is just right, not too dumbed down, but not too over the top either. Explanations of origins of words and phrases enhances the lessons and helps reinforce the vocab. The style is relaxed and informal. Check out "walk talk and learn French" , also radio lingua, also an absolute gem!" Fon Tass Tique" !

However, if you are a complete beginner, I wouldn't recommend this series. I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons with Mark and Anna, I don't understand why she's not involved anymore. It was fun to learn along with someone else. Not a fan of Pierre. He talks far too quickly :(

Mark and Anna do a great job. They move steadily through their syllabus, which is broken down into 10-episode modules. Each module has a re-cap at the end. Very easy to consume, even whilst driving. I am enjoying the learning process very much.

As a Scot living and working in France with very little French language ability, I enrolled the help of a private French tutor. She told me on day one that it was mandatory for me to listen to Coffee Break French to complement her teaching. And how right she was. Very well paced for a beginner, the lessons are very clear and well laid out and Mark and Anna are instantly likeable (though being Scottish I may be a little biased!!) Now my wife is listening to Coffee Break Spanish just for fun and says it is equally as good. Keep up the good work.

I'm just getting into this and really enjoying it. Its very addictive though! I'm probably an intermediate level french learner but started from scratch and its been great to go back over the basics and pick up some extras and tips along the way. Can't wait to put it all in to practice now!

After searching for weeks on end for a online french course etc. i finally found these podcasts on itunes, i decided to download the first ten to try out... A few more podcasts down the line i realised that these are possibly the best way to learn french at home!!! and the fact that you can download the lessons for free is just amazing! i'm considering buying the season 1 and 2 full pack to get the most out of it. These won't get you fluent in the language; to do that you'd best immerse yourself in a french town but what coffee break french does do is give you the basics(and the not-so-basics!) to be able to understand and learn once you're in that special place in France. I just wish i found these podcasts earlier!

Absolutely fantastic!

This is a very easy way to expand your ability to speak and understand French. Having not "learnt" anything new since gcse French. The podcast is good in that it covers the basics but also goes further than quel a la date du ton anniversaire? A personal favourite. A nice touch is that mark also mentions how to write and use punctuation in the French language. Merci coffee break French

What an amazing resource. Clear and easy to use. I did french ages ago (for 1 year), love the language and have always wanted to learn it properly. The advice I always got was "You have to try and practice everyday." I'm finally doing so thanks to Coffee Break French :-)

Am up to lesson 11 now. Had to do German at school and hated it. Always wanted to do French and thanks to these podcasts and the supporting pdf's etc I am determined to do it this time. If you can, it's worth paying for the bonus material. I'm a visual learner so need to see what I'm learning, also you get tested as you go along which helps me tell how I'm getting on
