New favourite thing

I came across this podcast after a mention on other featuring Robert Simpson. Very glad to have found it and am now in the process of an ill-considered binge-listening session.

Funny and informative

Recycled Electrons is a great light hearted discussion of the weeks science news, with and astronomy and astrophysics bent. But interesting stories from all areas of science covered too. The chemistry between Rob and Chris (and other participants when they are guest hosting) is great. An essential addition to you podcast feeds.

Bit of a Fan

I've listened to many factual podcasts, daily, over the years. They mainly fall into: the various BBC Radio 4 podcasts; Stuff You Should Know; Radiolab & now Recycled Electrons, which is by far my favourite. Their intelligent humour just fits my cheeky, slightly nerdy professional self, who loves all science.
But this podcast is more than that. It's certainly been accessible to someone like myself who had no prior astrophysics experience at all. I have learned through following the excellent links on Tumblr. Through them I have: become a citizen scientist on the Zooniverse project, improved how I communicate science to my patients & to children, & they have given me ideas for my own medical podcast & already helped me achieve communication through local radio & TV by giving me confidence & advice. I love them in a total groupie way (& they know that ;) but it's because I share a similar vision: science should be accessible to all, & this podcast is a good place to do that & get ideas. Do listen.

Still unmissable - but missing it!

Please let us know when you'll be back. So much has happened still early February, not least the potential gravity waves discovery in the CMB. I for one want to know the Chris and Rob view :)

It's good

The frequency of these podcasts is always pretty erratic. The last podcast was over 6 weeks ago & I keep checking at least twice a day to see if there is a new one. That's how good it is. I just hope Rob & Chris haven't fallen out & aren't speaking, what will I do then?

Simply astronomical!

Have followed these podcasts for two years as the silent ‘listener’, and thoroughly enjoy every episode! I’ve been an amateur astronomer for 30+ years, and recently started a GCSE in Astronomy to help firm up my knowledge - helped and encouraged by the infectious enthusiasm of the two well-learned Astronomers hosting the show. All hail Rob and Chris! Keep up the good work - and many thanks for the continual inspiration!

All Hail Rob Simpson & Chris Lintott

An extremely accessible podcast for anyone, Chris and Rob banter about all things astrophysics (a lot about Marrrrrs), and various geeky stuff. Very easy listening, funny, and informative, an essential feature in my week.

We love it...maybe too much..

Jen and I listen to this last thing in bed. This means there is one night of the week when I don't get any. However, this (along with infinite monkey cage) is a podcast that is worth it

Amusing weekly musings of two professional astronomers

The guys cover all the genuinely interesting stuff in astronomy and other related (and often unrelated) topics brilliantly. They manage to keep the podcasts coming in from wherever they may be in the world too. Its like you've met up with your rather clever mates in the pub for a chat about all things astronomy and science.
There is a related website where they post lots of links to stuff they've been discussing in the show, so you can always follow up on anything that takes your fancy. So I think 30 minutes is about right to keep things snappy and fun.
I think its great, and strongly recommend you become 'The Listener' !!

Two Geeks

Two scientists having a chat and a bit of a laugh. Great listening on the drive to work.

Make it longer

Why save stuff for next time? If it's interesting , then use it while it's fresh. Podcasts can vary in length , and 40 mins or so is perfectly acceptable. You always seem like you've got more to say , so say it .

One episode will get you hooked!

Geek-offs are taken to a whole new level of charm in this series of podcasts – it’s a little bit educational and a lot of fun – as Dr Chris and Dr Rob travel round the world (but mostly stay in Oxford) trying to get more people interested in Science. New discoveries and research are discussed, and if you can get an “ALL HAIL” – that’s when you know you’re really special. I’m still waiting for mine…
5 stars.
I hope that was cheesy enough for you.

A very pleasing distraction

This enjoyable podcast makes me smile.
It's best described as like overhearing two well informed blokes in a pub
having a light hearted discussion about "astro-sience" over a pint.

All hail Recycled Electrons

Affable co-hosts Chris and Rob talk about the latest developments in astronomy and space news, while frequently digressing, getting things wrong, arguing, forgetting people's names, ranting vociferously, and occasionally giving a running commentary on what they can see out of the window. One day all podcasts will be this good.
