I will never get sick of listening to this podcast. From scientists I’ve never heard of before to well known names, all are interesting and Jim is the perfect host. I started listening in 2017 so I keep the back catalogue of episodes I’ve not listened to for when this podcast is off air.

Good podcast ruined by the Ads

Great podcast but it’s ruined by the bbc adding long adverts to all the podcasts at the end! Hearing the same thing over and over across multiple podcasts is very annoying! If would be better to for people whom are using headphones to reduce the left right panning of the audio hearing half the podcast in one ear is annoying

Scientists may seem remote from our everyday lives, but listening to them speaking frankly about their lives and motivation brings them closer to the rest of us.

The scientific stuff is fascinating but the programme is short enough as it is without wasting time talking about the guest's past.

I hope when I start as a science teacher in September 2017 I can be as interesting and articulate as Jim. Amazing podcast from an inspirational scientist.

Wonderful. Shows what radio is capable of: intelligent, informative programme on the latest developments in science from the point of view of the scientists who made the breakthroughs. Lord Reith would be proud of it.

This is my all time favourite podcast by a mile! As a PhD student, it is so refreshing to hear about the human side of science from such eminent minds of our time. Jim is an excellent interviewer and the podcast itself is the perfect distillation of a persons journey and great science. I look forward to this half hour every week, it is so inspiring to hear these stories when one is having an awful day in the lab or writing a thesis...please Jim, keep making more of these!!!

I have been listening to every one of these since I discovered the series and it's been thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating. This program conveys superbly the passion and enjoyment that scientists in all fields share about their work and makes it easy to understand why they feel so committed to what they do. You learn a fair bit of science on the way, too, and Jim Al Khalili is an excellent interviewer, who contributes something of his views whilst allowing the guests to talk without all those irritating interruptions you so often get on the radio. He's good at playing 'devil's advocate' (although I can tell when he's doing it!). Thank you for this tremendous series, I just wish more people would hear it.

This is such a great podcast, Jim really helps to put across some complicated ideas into understandable terms. The scientists he interviews are all passionate and this really comes across when they're talking about their subject. It engages the brain and makes you question some of the ethical points science is concerned with.

Understanding the process of science is something that many find difficult. As a result, we get bizarre reporting and public understanding of MMR vaccine, global warming, stem cell developments, nuclear energy etc These 25 min conversations between Jim al-Khalili and eminent working scientists draw out the way they have developed in an extremely listenable way. They leave you feeling better.

Absolutely fascinating half hour, should be twice as long.
As a pensioner who left school at 15, all of my education since has been from books, now we have podcasts where we can listen to truly superior minds giving us glimpse into their worlds.
Inspiring hopefully to all, to go out and read a book about science, which is the greatest mystery to every person on the planet.
Download, listen and buy a book, any book on science. I would recommend the bill Bryson one, it's like a lay mans guide to the universe

Vastly more interesting than many of the celebrity autobiographies so popular at the moment. Science being difficult and disciplined, these are people who's opinions should be more considered - Loved it!!! Please keep going, I knew little of Paul Nurse, please surprise me again with someone so varied.
