top podcast. seem like a decent pair of chaps who know there crime

I’m a long time listener...first time reviewer, and happy to admit that I love listening to Aaron and Justin. I don’t always agree with them and sometimes find their chosen cases ‘eye rolling’ (some people deserve what they get) but a pod that centres on two guys yakking, without frills and fuss, is such a rarity in the pod world nowadays, that it just makes GenWhy stand out even more. Great work boys - keep going!

Love this podcast but have tried Stitcher to get full catalogue but haven’t been able to get prior to Episode 88?

I like listening to this podcast for the most part but I’ll always turn it off about 15 mins before the end because of the way the hosts go on and on repeating the same things. Repeating things like ‘I always say that juvenile people should have legal counsel’ 15 times in the space of one podcast is probably not needed.. it’s not exactly a groundbreaking statement. Still worth a listen, just probably not to the end!

This show is full of errors and pushes the official line too far. Total rubbish and poorly produced

Usually good and fairly well-researched. Sad to see them do a recent episode on Pizzagate and play defence lawyers for blatant creeps Alefantis and co. News rooms wouldn’t show Alefantis’ social media posts because they’re too disturbing and graphic in their content containing young children and infants... and that’s not a red flag? Still you’ll dismiss and downplay the accusations despite that insane content on his page which, if it was anyone you knew, you’d be tempted to report to police. So this lack of objectivity has disappointed me, but when they cover individual cases and disappearances etc it is a good show.

My favourite podcast by far! Also, in reference to another review I read regarding the hosts inferring Madeline McCanns and Mary Bells parents made horrendous errors in parenting, I am from the UK and let me tell you, the vast majority of this country agree. You’re doing an amazing job!!!!!!!!

Fantastic podcast with lots of variety whether you’re interested in true crime, conspiracy or mystery - a good mix of old and new cases that are really well research but allow you to form your own opinion.

The hosts have great chemistry and both research each topic well and no matter what topic they are covering they manage to be respectful and don't rely on gory details to get more listeners.

Love this guys, really do their research and it’s presented in an informal way making it easy to listen to.

I really like this podcast. The hosts have a very calm delivery to what often is complex or disturbing stories. It appears that they research the crimes individually and come together to have what is a very natural conversation, and I enjoy hearing their individual opinions on cases. The only suggestion I would make is to have more ‘resources’ (i.e add recordings of 911 calls!). But truly such a good poddy, great content - they’ve covered all the big stories and often surprise me with ones I’ve never heard of!

Was interested in the material covered, but these guys speak so slowly and leave such long pauses it's just too hard to listen to.

Really enjoy this podcast but I find it hugely distracting that one of the hosts breaths really loudly and noisily while the other guy is talking!! I’m always relieved when noisy breathing guy starts talking as it instantly stops. Petty I know but just being honest. Great content though and plenty variety.

Just found this podcast a few months ago and I have binged listened to every episode during my commute. Now I’ve caught up I’ve no idea what I’m going to do for my commute now. It’s very interesting to listen to both their point of view on the cases and one thing that I found was funny is one of them constantly says “I’m not into conspiracies but”

The only criticism I would have is as I got closer to the modern newer episodes the adverts seemed to increase and interrupt the story, maybe consider having the adverts at the beginning or the end?

This came through as a recommendation from the All Killa No Filla podcast (my number one podcast) so I thought I’d give it a go. Absolutely love it, really easy to listen to and great in depth episodes! Only reason I didn’t give you 5/5 is because AKNF adds a touch of dark humour to their episodes which helps it stay a little more lighthearted. Keep up the great work, thanks guys!!!

Easy listening...Good stories.... Great way to lose a few hours either at work ( if your allowed to) or driving ... keep up the good work guys ....

Used to be a huge fan of this podcast! But lately I think you guys have drifted towards speculation, and lost some of your critical thinking. You’re more quick to judge and less willing to consider evidence at face value. For example, in the latest episode, you were totally willing to accept the head trauma effects on the father, but not on the mother.

Still love to listen and think your choices of topic are great!

Aaron and Justin both have very soft, relaxing voices and deal with the subject matter in a respectful way - they don’t dwell on the gory details like some podcasts do - rather, they discuss the impact of the crime on those affected, and the implications for us as a society. Also they pick very interesting cases to cover.

One of the best, if not THE best, true crime podcasts..... I look forward each week to listening to Justin and Aaron, who have a great chemistry together. Also fantastic research. Well done boys!

Really interesting stories but delivered without any pacing or storytelling, Could you guys not add news clips and courtroom recordings? Also a bit of suspense would go a long way, begin at the start of the crime and drop the interesting aspects of the story over the hour or so? Sword and Scale is the best crime podcast for these reasons

These guys are the OG’s of true crime podcast! This is the podcast that got me hooked on true crime and you guys are great, cover really interesting cases and in great factual detail. Thanks for the hard work

I came across this podcast last month after watching Netflix’s The staircase and searching you tube for peoples opinions and stumbled across this gen why podcast and I have loved every episode since.

They are great story tellers and tell us all the necessary facts and then give their opinions.

I particularly like the serial killer episodes and wrongful convictions episodes. I drive a lot and so I get through a lot of episodes per day.

On the strength of the pod cast I decided to become on patron on the Patreon website.

Hey Erin and Justin as I’ve no idea or patience to get my suggestion I do hope this way works, plus it’s promoting how from 98 podcast stations, majority true crime, I enjoy gen why best and how u both present and detail ur case reports. As i do listen to so many various true crime pods, I’ve never yet heard the most controversial case of Milly Dowler which I’ve recently just read in the true accounts that of her older sisters heart wrenching series of injustice events, although it’s lengthy and possibly all covered in the book which has been the only book I’ve literally been unable to finish as it’s very hard hitting. Wee suggestion guys that might appeal......Chelle x

I wait for this to come out each week. Very well written and presented. Something weirdly therapeutic about the hosts voices considering they are discussing sometimes horrendous things.

Lately I hate to admit it but IVe started to get frustrated with this podcast for two distinct reasons . 1. Though it’s the format for the podcast I’m frustrated that there are no resolutions to the cases and we are left with the interpretations of the hosts - which they at least cover many angles, but sometimes belabour a point into boring repetition. 2. Whilst I enjoy the personal touch of shared life experiences that feel genuine, lately I feel like justin is getting too much about himself and it’s not so much as the attitude developing that his interpretation and argument hold some exceptional value among others’ and that that is generally the accepted view among the wide audience . Sorry .

I also sense some frustration between the hosts and I sense that there is a management hierarchy that is imposing new protocols that are prob both progressive and also stressful for the production of the show.

This is consistently one of the best true-crime podcasts available. The creators have mastered the art of being both informative and engaging. It’s a joy to listen to and they deserve continuing success. Well done guys!

I've listened to so many podcasts, but I always come back to this one.

I’ve discovered podcasts about a million years after everyone else and I’ve tried listening to many of the True Crime genre but I find some of them just a massive ego trip, facts not checked and you need a certain kind of voice for this. You guys have a great friendship where you can disagree but it’s a debate not an argument and think between you that you really do give balanced views. Thank you for making my dark nights just a little darker as my 4 Chihuahuas and I listen to you both and appreciate the time you put into each case but also that you end or at least try to end on a positive note. Keep it up guys we love you!

I was only listening to your podcast about the original night stalker last night. They arrested an ex police officer last night. No wonder he was always one step ahead of the police .... he was one. I hadn't realised I was yet to rate this superb podcast. So sorry, guys. I've listened for a couple of years now and I've rarely missed one. They pick some interesting cases and I do like their relationship. It is definitely in my top 3 podcasts.

Thoughtful and respectful analysis and discussion of interesting crimes

Very informative and well researched each case is laid out in an easy to follow coherent time line. Love their voices very soothing, regularly fall asleep listening to them
