Ideology v Practicality
Achingly liberal know-it-all offers increasingly political commentary in the form of video/audio essays that often kiss the boundary of pure diatribe.
I’m no mouth frothing, purple veined conservative but holy smokes is the content here becoming ever more polarising and opinionated. The smug-o-meter breaks new heights regularly.
There is an artifice to proceedings like DNL just can’t wait to deliver this week’s attack against his carefully curated straw-men (sorry, that would be patriarchal - straw people) so he can join his true comrades-in-arms i.e. syndicated columnists. The soapbox effect is real folks.
I stick around because, aside from the above, he’s not quite insufferable enough (yet) to repel me from picking up the odd nugget of gold he still retains the ability to drop. And the quality of these nuggets are so indisputable that this podcast (read: converted YouTube essay) fully merits 5*s.
That and you have to admire the chutzpah and self-assuredness even when DNL beats the drum for an agenda he just can’t wait to ram down your throat.
It’s a confusing picture but I’m a lenient, easygoing kinda fellow and despite my distaste for the ideological I’ll press play next week for the practical.
Cheers.
