One of my favourite podcasts in the whole world. Music that touches the soul, changes people, is linked to strong memories. Does what song exploder tries to do but a million times better.

Absolutely loved this show, as did my 7 year old. Incredibly heart warming and I could listen to Cerys Matthews speak all day long.

Always moving and inspiring.

One of the best things on Radio 4. Very pleased to have discovered all the podcasts, which will see me through until the next time it's on!

I don't connect with all of the songs but the personal stories of those who do are always compelling. Always sad, always uplifting, the title of the show describes perfectly the concept of how we associate music with emotions based around life events and experiences.
My own favourite was Mr Blue Sky. I heard that one over a year ago and I still feel invested in each story. There are a lot of bad people in the world but this show is validation that there are many, many more amazing, lovely, caring people.
A mention for the experts who deconstruct the songs. Even for the ones I don't especially like, it's hard not to be impressed by the songwriter's talent. And Jeff Lynne is a genius.

One of the few programmes that you look forward to, but never know when it's going to appear again. I'd never know about some scoring masterpieces if I hadn't listened to Soul Music. I is truly food for the spirit.

Every episode is good but this is a great episode. Uplifting, yet thought provoking and pertinent given the world troubles. I so enjoyed listening it that I listened to it three times in a row.

It's wonderful to listen to people talking about their deeply personal and emotional relationship to these exceptionally beautiful pieces of music. My favourite episodes are Dvorak's New World Symphony and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, they show with indisputable clarity how universal and timeless the language of music is.

I challenge anyone to listen to the episode about Dvorak's new world symphony and not be moved, exceptionally touching interviews with people who's lives have been connected to a particular piece of music.
