Such a fun and useful way to learn a language!

I’ve listened to both Coffee Break German and the French series and actually feel I’ve gotten something out of it. They make the podcasts really entertaining so you’re less likely to space out. I find myself naturally paying attention or trying to figure out how they’re going to translate the next sentence/question. They also provide a lot of cultural context, e.g. “in today’s episode we’re going to talk about ordering a coffee because coffee is such a big part of German culture”- and then go on and explain some of the cultural habits around coffee in Germany. Really nice. Really jealous of the accents as well, they’re so on point. 5*

Great way to learn German!

I’ve been working my way through Coffee Break German over the last few weeks in the car on the way to work. It’s an ideal way to learn German, gently building on knowledge gained in previous episodes to get you to a point where you can manage some quite complex conversations!
I would highly recommend the bonus episodes and starting from the beginning of series 1 - it helps to give the foundation to what you learn later. The cultural segments are also a welcome addition - as they say, learning a language is about more than just the words.
Mark, Thomas, Andrea, Julia, Kirsten and Kristina make learning enjoyable - there’s something about Mark’s tone and attitude that makes you feel like you’re in good company learning and making mistakes. Definitely try this if you want to improve your German.

Ausgezeichnet :)

I’m learning German at school for my GCSE’s, but this podcast really helped me pick up some new vocabulary and phrases, and got me more comfortable with the German language. Mark and Thomas have really relaxing, soothing voices and I had a blast listening to the episodes.
It’s also really fun to count how many times Mark says the word “ausgezeichnet” throughout the series.

Language practice that complements my Goethe course

I‘ve just found this podcast and am so pleased because I can practice listening to german as well as reviewing the grammar.
It complements the course I‘m taking and I can listen to it whilst running.

Revolutionised my learning

I've been trying to learn German on and off for 4 years with limited success, but once I found CBG it finally gave me exactly what I was looking for. Instead of boring books or apps that get you learning things without ever telling you what's going on, CBG takes the time to explain the language in simple terms, so that you understand how it works and can combine vocab and grammar to build sentences. It's also quite fun to listen to, and makes my commute much more productive!

Excellent

I cannot praise the Coffee Break concept enough.
I have been a fan since the very early days of Coffee Break Spanish, which I used when I started studying Spanish at school around 12 years ago. Being a bit of a language lover (I also studied French as part of my degree at University and spent a year there) I decided to take German classes and to use Coffee Break German as a complement to this.
The podcasts are great, covering an impressive range of vocabulary and grammar in an engaging, easy to understand way. The cultural sections are also a nice touch. The premium version with the notes and bonus materials is excellent if you (like me) find it easier to have a visual aid when learning and reviewing vocabulary and grammar.
Highly, highly recommended. Keep up the great work Mark and everyone at Radio Lingua!

Superb language course

I loved both Coffee break Spanish and French so I knew immediately where to turn for my German fix. All the coffee break courses are superb, really there are no other podcasts that measure up in my opinion. Wonderful resource - thank you Radio Lingua. Andy.

Best learning podcast.

The coffee break series are an outstanding way to learn a new language. I love Mark’s clear way of presenting and how easy it is to follow along. The subscription also adds a nice element of additional workbooks and short bonus lessons which is well worth the fee. For a free podcast the content is simple unbeatable.

If Carlsberg did language learning, it probably wouldn't be as good as Coffee Break German

Ich liebe nicht Kaffee aber leibe Coffee Break German.
This podcast is very helpful and extremely informative for learning German. I have tried other podcasts - textbooks, videos - but none of them come anywhere close to the content or quality provided by Coffee Break German.
Waiting for the fortnightly new episodes is how I imagine the rest of the world feel waiting for a new Game Of Thrones - just hurry up!

Fantastic!

I love this series. It is so useful as everyday language is taught as well as being taught how to make your own sentences. This isn't about remembering phrases, but rather learning the language. I love it and heartily recommend it.

Excellent!!!

I am using a few different apps and text books to learn German and I love it. Studying a new language is fascinating. This podcast is an incredible edition to anyone wanting to learn German. The whole team are very enthusiastic with each section really complimenting the show perfectly. They all make learning German fun! I haven't finished the course yet but I know I will miss it when it ends. An excellent show with great hosts!!! Very highly recommended!!!

Completely new to German

I am enjoying these lessons enormously. Never having spoken a word of German previously I am finding it quite hard and not sure how much is going in but I will keep trying. The grammar guru section is useful. I have a month to get fluent! Thank you Mark and Thomas.

Just the right level

Some language learning seems to go a bit fast for a part time student like, others seem to plod along a bit too slowly. This one is about right and I find the language relevant and quite interesting.
I am trying to get my German above base level to support my sales activities in Germany, which is all done in English (phone calls, emails, visits), but I sometimes come across someone whose English is limited. So I wanted to handle those situations more elegantly and in fact show all the Germans I come across, even the ones with very fluent English, that I am making some efforts to learn their language.
I feel that I am going in the right direction taking this course.

Exzellent!

Absolutely love Coffee Break German.
Got hooked onto Radio Lingua a few years ago after using Coffee Break Spanish to help me pick up some Spanish before a holiday to Spain and I found it to be brilliant - I picked up Spanish so quickly and even now I can still actually remember it all even though I am awful with remembering languages.
I did German in school for three years but that was a long time ago and having recently started working for a German auto company, I thought it would be good to try and get to grips with the language again (added bonus that Thomas is Bavarian as most of my colleagues are from Munich so the regional dialect he mentions as 'bonus' phrases are good for me!).
I found these podcasts to be really useful and so much better than any of my German teachers were. Mark and Thomas are really good at helping you learn the language; they take it slow and don't try to cram too much into one podcast, but at the same time they give you enough volcabulary to make real progress with the language. The extra parts explaining the grammar are really useful and it feels like I'm actually learning the language rather than just some phrases. The great thing about the podcasts is they are only 20 minutes long and if you don't take it all in you can listen again.

Brilliant podcast

Having used Coffee Break French & Spanish to brush up on the languages I learned at school, I am familiar with the excellent teaching style of these podcasts. Despite never having studied any German before, I'm finding that CBG just as good for learning a language from scratch. The in depth teaching and emphasis on understanding is really great.

Another hit from the coffee break team

Having not studied languages since I left school almost 20 years ago I decided to put my daily commute to work to good use and start learning some new languages. I found the coffee break series's and have been listening to the Spanish, French and German podcasts. It's been a pleasure to listen to Mark and the team and a recent family holiday to Switzerland and France was made so much more enjoyable by being able to speak a little of the languages. I've just be one a premium member of the French series and will do the same in time for Spanish and German. Thank you for the great work you do. Keep it up!

Coffee break German

I'm recently retired and decided to remind myself of a language I learned in school. Coffee break German is excellent for the way you can casually pick up the structure and phrases of the language - I wish my teachers at school had been as good! I will be using what I've learned on a trip to Germany this year.

Excellent - ausgezeichnet

As an advanced Spanish Speaker and Intermediate in French, I have used Radio Lingua's Show-Time Spanish and Coffee Break French. However, I barely knew a single word of German before embarking on the Coffee Break German Course.
Each lesson is well structured with conversation, vocabulary and essential grammar. The Cultural Correspondent feature is an interesting addition.
I decided to buy the premium edition - definitely the right decision. The video flash cards are particularly useful as you see the words written as they are spoken. The bonus audio has more conversation and vocabulary, together with a useful test. The written lesson guide builds into an excellent textbook.
This is the best Radio Lingua product I have come across and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to learn, or improve, their German.

Wirklich wunderbar

Ich habe diesen Podcast sehr genossen. Thomas, ihren Akzent finde ich echt cool, weil es mich an meinen ehemaligen Mitbewohner erinnert. Tatsaechlich lerne ich Deutsch schon seit zehn Jahren oder so, aber die Aussprache finde ich immernoch schwierig. Damit hilft Euer Podcast!
