Description

Cast On began on Monday, 31 October, 2005, founded on nothing more than the desire to talk about knitting to people who get it. All the other stuff, about how memories, thoughts, hopes and dreams are knit into the fabric we create, and so become part of the fabric of our lives; about how life and knitting intertwine, and how sometimes you simply cannot tell where one part leaves off the other begins; about how the only thing wrong with the world today is that there is not enough knitting in it, all that came later, over time. Since 2005 the podcast has evolved to focus on finding inspiration in the ordinary, using it to kick start the process of making stuff, and finding ways to carve out the creative time and space that allows you to work your ass off on the projects that matter most to you. Like knitting a sweater. Or saving the world.

HUGE Cast On Fan

Love the generous, direct, I'm-talking-to-you spirit of this podcast. Brenda is funny, warm, and connects her knitting and her life together in a beautiful way in Cast On.

Superb

This is a must listen to for me - and I am working my way through the archive. I always used to listen to Alistair Cooke's Letter from America - and I think of this podcast as Letter from Wales delivered by a charming American - it deserves a wider audience than just those with pointy sticks.

So Lovely!

I just listened to the latest episode of Cast On and it was the most charming little podcast that I would definitely recommend to crafters. Professionally put together, yet warm and friendly. One of the best I´ve heard in ages.

Fantastic magazine-style podcast, extremely professional

I discovered Cast-On in March 2009 and had to download the whole back catalogue to listen to. Now I've caught up and waiting for the next episode has sent me off trying to find something to fill the space - not easy! Brenda has a great voice to listen to, great music and interesting 'articles'. If you love knitting I would highly recommend a listen!

Sublime musings on knitting, creativity and living in Wales

This is the creme de la creme of knitting podcasts: witty, thoughtful, beautifully produced and delivered. With a voice like melted chocolate, Brenda opines on knitting, living the creative life, podcasting, making ethical choices and the social history of Wales and the fibre arts. It also features guest essays and interviews from a variety of writers, fibre artists and listeners. I cannot recommend this podcast highly enough.

As good as knitting with cashmere.

Brenda is a consumate professional when it comes to podcasting. The cast is informative, entertaining and sometimes heartwrenching. I have learnt a great deal, but have also really enjoyed the guest appearances and the humour. It's wonderful, bring it into your life!

THE Podcast for Knitting and Life

Brenda has to be listened to. She's addictive. I've just finished catching up on all her episodes and now I'm listening to them all over again! Even a non-knitter would enjoy the way she talks about life,
relationships, music and of course the great craft itself. Brenda's choice of music always seems
right for the moment and sometimes the lyrics make you laugh out loud.
I needle you to give this podcast one listen and you'll be hooked.

Wonderful, entertaining, informative, interesting.

I've been listening to this podcast for nearly a year now, and I still love it. Brenda always has something interesting and/or thought-provoking to say, a talent not confined to the subject of knitting. I've learnt a lot from her and heard some really fabulous music from the Podsafe Music Network at the same time. The pacing of each episode is just right, and she always manages to keep my interest. Give her a try - she might surprise you.

Fabulous

This podcast is about life and philosophy, but through the particular lens of knitting. Much if not all of this talented podcaster's work would be of interest to anyone who finds questioning their life and work/craft a worthwhile, satisfying activity. Most stimulating!

Top podcast

Podcasts come and go but I'm still consistently listening to Brenda's professional presentation and absorbing content. Maybe we UK listeners have been a little reticent in passing on the word but Dave sure stung us into action. Listen and learn!

Bestest Podcast EVER!!!

Brenda's wonderfully soothing voice has inspired me to pick up my pointy sticks and get fully engrossed with yarn pastimes after many years in the wilderness. Amusing, thought provoking, entertaining, educational.... I find it hard to get through the week with only one podcast to listen to (just think how distraught I've been whilst Brenda has a break between 'series'!?!). If you love yarn, you'll love Cast On - fabulous!
