I have very much enjoyed listening to Home Front over the last four years. The acting and writing are both of a very high standard and the idea of following characters through such an interesting period of history has been both entertaining and educational. I am missing it already!

Thank you for a wonderful piece of radio that I’ve listened to since episode 1. I will miss the characters especially Adam Wilson played by Billy Kennedy and before that Leo Montague. A superb insight into life in the First World War and the Social changes happening at that time.

A wonderful ‘eye’ into the past, a time we shouldn’t forget. The broadcast made the time feel real and the characters so believable, I loved it!
Why not do a similarl thing set in WW11 ?

Have listened since day once and sobbed my eyes out during “A Fragile Peace”. Please listen to this from start to finish! So addictive, compelling and beautifully written with stories and characters you cannot help but form relationships with.

I have enjoyed every episode of Home Front and have dreaded the 11th November 2018, knowing that would be the end of a wonderful, historic and warm drama. But what a way to go out and with the lovely soothing voice of Florrie. Thank you for Home Front, I will miss you dear friend

Such a great programme i will really miss my daily history lesson. Such a personal extract in to the everyday lives of folk, it really helped me appreciate the pain that so many wife’s and mothers felt as their husbands and sons who went to war and never returned. It has educated me and made me reflect on a war which till I listening to the show I never really fully understood the sacrifice so many made. World war 2 was the only subject matter that I was taught at school but only from the political aspects not the personal effect of war. Thank you bbc please follow this series up with a similar programme to educate us on what happens following the end of the war. The return of many broken solders and the hope of the people that this war would end all wars. The mistakes that led to a Second World War so soon after the end of the first. 👍🤔

Don’t let it end!

Please don’t end Home Front! I’m going to miss those characters so much. I’m sure you could carry it on until it’s 100 years from the Second World War. We need to know how the social changes following the First World War affect all the families and how they deal with a return to war after only 20 years. Please, please, please don’t end!

The BBC have a duty to continue this educational programme

Stop cutting off your nose to spite your face BBC programme decision makers. This is an educational broadcast disguised as a drama. Exactly the same template in which The Archers was originally marketed.
Homefront is highly successful and popular with as many podcast subscribers as The Archers. Both are excellent dramas. Why should my license fee support the Archers and not a continuing run of Homefront? We study history to learn from our mistakes; post Great War Britain is an incredibly important when studying how humans adapt and how good and poor decisions shaped life for future generations. We are the same species, facing similar dilemmas. You have a duty to continue Homefront for the good of the people.

Compelling ....

As the end draws near I hope the production team are considering how to keep alive this concept of looking at world events from those who lived and survived on the periphery of the main stage. Fascinating and informative in equal parts. I will miss these characters immensely. Well done BBC.

What will I do when this series ends later this year? I haven’t missed a single episode - it’s taught me so much about life at home during World War One, particularly relating to the roles of women and the appalling treatment of conscientious objectors. Brilliantly acted and superbly written. Can’t bear to be parted from these characters...

I have been listening since 2014 and have been constantly amazed by the diversity of social issues raised by the series not to mention the sometimes melodramatic situations that the characters find themselves in. My hope is that the armistice In November will not see the end of the series as all of the characters will have even more to deal with in the post war world.

I love this series, I have learnt so much and am so looking forward to learning more about Seale Haynes role in the war. I knew when I was there that the buildings had been used as a hospital and there were several photographs of it then. Hearing it mentioned a few series ago was amazing and now the next actually being there! I can’t wait 😀

This is one of the joys of the day. The episodes are so well written that you become engrossed in the characters. The setting is excellent and never once do I doubt that they are not from 100 years ago.

Being a short drama, this can seem like a soap opera at times but if listened to from the beginning of the war, a flavour of what it might have been like during World War 1 for those still at home could be had. (The excellent Tommies gives an idea what it was like at the front.) But it can only be a flavour. Forgive it’s soap-like qualities and take in the lives of the people of Folkestone and Tynemouth. The episodes commemorating the Gotha raids of Folkestone in May 1917 were especially good.

Having listened to every episode since the beginning I cannot fault the various storylines throughout and superb acting. All based on the First World War events and the trials and tribulations of the main character Kitty Wilson/Lumley her family and contemporary society.

Compulsive lisening - the best thing to come out of the BBC since the Great war itself. Inter woven story lines that use general facts from the time combined with ‘real’ character storiers.

I have been listening to this series from the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed every episode.
I particularly like the way that characters and situations encountered during the First World War are carefully and sensitively covered.
Congratulations to the makers of this programme. So informative.

A great piece of work. Written and acted excellently. Listening you really get a feel for the characters and their surroundings. The story's are a mixture of fact and fiction and are very authentic. The only downside is that there seem to be episodes missing from the downloads. Great job BBC.

I have listened to this series via Podcast from day one The writing and production are excellent and all the characters come to life so well coupled with excellent sound bites that you feel captured in the moment.
My only criticism would be that it runs in series and you are never sure when one has finished, apart from no podcast, and a new series begins! It Is well worth listening to from day one if you've just discovered the series, as you will get to know characters and their evolution through the war years. Very atmospheric well done BBC.

What an excellent series, never listened to a podcast or a radio show like this. However I caught and episode whilst flicking through the stations in my car and now I've downloaded and listened to the whole series.

This soap opera could have been so interesting and entertaining. Instead it is very poorly written with little imagination.
There are very few characters with any likeable qualities. Most are actually obnoxious.
The script is abysmal as is a lot of the acting. Many of the situations are ridiculous.
Its only redeeming feature is that the episodes last only a few minutes.

Already a classic
