This is an excellent podcast. Am about halfway through and listen at every available opportunity. Love the way the characters and their stories interlink and lots of information about WW1 . Please do more like this BBC.

Absolutely brilliant. BBC at its best

I love this and have listened to every single episode. I have laughed, cried and even shouted with all of the characters at some point. I really miss it

bbc at it’s best

Home Front is a great drama that will be missed. Home Front the ‘Inter war years’ maybe could work. The drama has moved on from the war as the dominant driver to the series and now is character led so could go anywhere.

Home front

Wow, what a beautifully written series. I was transfixed from the start. I’m quite sad that it has ended. The play rounded it off nicely. Well done BBC.

End of an era

How I have loved this wonderful piece of work. Congratulations to everyone concerned in the writing and performance. It has been an epic enterprise and one in which I would love to have been involved, if only I’d had the talent! I shall miss everyone so much as all the characters feel like friends and acquaintances of mine. It would make a wonderful novel.... Please can we have more?

Goodbye, Home Front

I must say that I heard every episode at some point, and thoroughly enjoyed it, despite clocking a rather large number of anachronisms in the language the characters used.
Now that I’ve listened again to some of the early episodes, I admire the way in which the scriptwriters and producers made some of the characters - particularly Sylvia Graham - grow and change for the better under the pressure of war, whilst others - notably Johnnie Marshall - withered and shrank. It was bold of the scriptwriters and producers, too, to leave some characters and stories unresolved. I really wanted to know what became of Lilian Frost, and Howard Argent - but of course those open ends are life versus art (soap opera being both).
But I do wish I knew how Adam Wilson and his parents escaped the wrath of the law between November 1918 and November 1919!

Wonderful series. Please continue

What a beautifully crafted piece of work this has been. I have been captivated from the first episode and will miss it so much. Please try and continue in some way, even if just quarterly long episodes. I feel so invested in the characters’ futures!
Thank you to everyone involved. ❤️

Brilliant and relevant

I have absolutely loved this epic series - it has been brilliant. I am so sorry that it’s over; thank you the many stories and the deeply drawn, rich characters that will keep alive in our minds the suffering that our nation went through.

Please carry on

I’ve been listening to this from the start. In that time I have had a major operation and after recovering from that got the big C, fought that and am now clear. Listening to this series has helped and it has made me more aware of how privileged we are living in the era we do and to appreciate the unerring sacrifice people on the front and at home made. I feel I have come to know the characters so well so Please Please carry on the series. There is so much more to tell and enjoy.

Home Front

Fantastic series, you must continue with the characters. We as listeners feel we have grown up with them and need to know what happens next. This has been as addictive as the long running TV series’ and as equally visual to the ears. Thank you.

Old Friends

I’ve been playing catch up with this podcast having stumbled across it by accident towards the end of last year. I’m now nearing the end of 1917 in the omnibus editions and having immersed myself in it I feel like the characters are old friends and I am living their stories with them. I am already dreading the end of the war (ha!) because I know that will mean I will no longer be a part of their lives. Please Radio4 carry on their stories beyond 1918!! This could be the start of the new ‘Archers’! :)

Mrs

This series has been brilliant, I'm just in the process of downloading all of it so as to keep and relisten. WW1 has really come alive for me by sitting with the characters in my lounge. It's this type of thing that the BBC do better than anyone else. Well done and many thanks

Potboiler but fascinating

This is a right old potboiler with hammy acting, but I love the fascinating historical insights into life 100 years ago. It’s worth listening to just for that.

Enjoy and learn!

I have listened to this since it began and thoroughly enjoy it. It has certainly brought that time alive for me and I have learned much historical fact in context - certainly beats text books!
