Pat is left, literally, holding the baby when Sara, Nisha and the children go to Pencaster for the afternoon and Ajay can’t take time off work to look after baby Nikhil. Ajay tells Pat to make sure that Nikhil doesn’t lose his favourite toy, Green Rabbit, without whom he cannot sleep. But all day long Nikhil seems determined to lose the toy: he throws it into a field of sheep and Pat has to retrieve it; loses it in amongst the pews of the church and finally inadvertently “plants” it in Dorothy Thompson’s carrot patch. Pat and Dorothy frantically wash and dry the toy in time to return to the station to meet Nisha and Sara. “Has Nikhil been okay? ” asks Nisha. “Oh yes,” replies Pat. “No trouble at all!”
