The Fat Controller tells welcomes Ferdinand his railroad by giving him a reward; sharing Gordon’s special taking the Lion of Sodor to the summerhouse. Gordon thinks Ferdinand is ‘frumpy’ and takes the quiet track so no-one can see them. When Gordon goes too fast across the fenland, the Lion of Sodor falls into the river. Ferdinand helps Gordon retrieve the Lion of Sodor. Gordon realises he was wrong to think he was grander than Ferdinand.
