Description

The BBC marks our enduring affection for all the great comedy characters we have met over the 60 years by enlisting the biggest names in British comedy writing and performing to revisit much-loved classics, including Are You Being Served? Porridge, and a special prequel to Keeping Up Appearances. Are You Being Served? picks up where the classic comedy left off. It's 1988 and Young Mr Grace is determined to drag Grace Brothers into, well 1988, but he faces resistance. Porridge returns with Fletch's grandson imprisoned for cyber-crime and Young Hyacinth will tell the story of Hyacinth's early adulthood.

Hmm

A 'tribute' to the originals. What they really mean is 'let's see what the reaction is and work out if we can get away with making a full series'.
Unfortunately they seem to lack the charm of the originals. They also, by definition, lack the originality.
It's a shame. But then, maybe, rather than trying to re-invent classic sitcoms they could invest in new, original work? Yes it's cheaper to re-hash but maybe not worth the effort?
At best they are pale imitations of much-loved classic series.
Still, no where near as bad as the absolutley dreadful yes minister reboot that they tried a little while back.

50/50 wait till they are separated

Are you being served DIRE....... the humour of that time does no translate in well, decent cassting but overall, it lacks that certain something, perhaps when the orignal went off air, it was time to close the store,
Porridge
not bad, amusing, well cast, and bouces along, yes amusing enough.
good concepts bringing them back for one offs, but they are what they are modren day covers of the orginals, and in certain respects just lacking that touch of magic overall.

Waste of money

This is very poor, just buy the originals this is a far leap away from them. Seriously don't waste your money!
