Description
Based on the novels by Edward St Aubyn, Benedict Cumberbatch gives a sparkling performance as Patrick Melrose, a troubled member of the English upper class who tries to make sense of his life following the death of his father. The show follows Patrick’s life from this childhood in the South of France in the 1960s, to his adult life in New York and London. Also stars Hugo Weaving and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Tremendous performance
At the end of episode 1 we might be wondering what in the world we have ended up watching. But stick with the whole series all will be revealed and this program shows just how good and flexible an Actor the main Character Cumberbatch is. An absolute stunning performance.

Zero empathy for the characters
CB puts everything into it as ever, but I gave up after 2 episodes - had no empathy for the characters or interest.

This is one of the best pieces of television I have seen in years. Superb script, compelling, career-defining performance from Benedict Cumberbatch, top notch supporting cast. Dive right in.

Quality 5* A masterclass in Acting
This series has it all, fine performances from all the cast, not 1 weak link and after all what is a heartbreaking story it’s told Mostly in flashbacks flipping between past present and future, it’s a great shame it’s such a short series but hopefully more to come
