Doubles as a great travelogue!
A really good, interesting drama, that brings humour, pathos and cringing reality to the screen. Tom Hollander is excellent in the lead as middle-aged married man, struggling to understand his place in his marriage (to the equally excellent Saskia Reeves), and how he is singularly unable to communicate with his eighteen year old son. The humour arises from the failed efforts at being a cool dad, which you either see in yourself, or people you know. The pathos, from his desperate attempts to salvage a failing marriage from it’s slow death, and the acknowledgement by the viewer that we know someone like that. This makes for, at times, difficult viewing, but the quality acting, good production values, and European locations make it a good watch. And the divine Sofie Gråbøl is in it as well!
