Description

Meet Tony Soprano: your average, middle-aged businessman. Tony's got a dutiful wife. A not-so-dutiful daughter. A son named Anthony Jr. A pill of a mother. A hot-headed uncle. A not-too-secret mistress. And a shrink to whom he tells all his secrets, except the one she already knows: Tony's a mob boss. In Season 1, feeling his handle on his family and his business slipping away, Tony (James Gandolfini) suffers a series of anxiety attacks that land him in the office of a psychiatrist (Lorraine Bracco). Opening up to his shrink, Tony relates the details of his life as a "waste-management consultant" and tries to come to terms with the professional and private strains that have brought him to the brink of a breakdown. Co-starring Edie Falco as his wife, Michael Imperioli as his nephew and Dominic Chianese as his uncle.

Seriously? £24.99, and they wonder why people download illegally, I want to watch this show really badly because of the buzz it has around my group of friends, yet, I cannot justify paying that much when I have not seen it before and might not like it

Right first things first great show cannot go wrong but you can go to the shop and buy all the series for £60 max so I can't see how it's £30 for season 1 : /

The whole thing just got better and better and better and better until the masterpiece of series 6. Just watched it for the first time in ten years. Great writing and music. CLASSIC.

There's nothing much to say, that people haven't said in reviews before. A terrific show, probably the second best show of all time because I think ultimately The Wire is more consistent but they are both part of HBO's diamond generation of TV dramas. Yes it's quite expensive for a download only thing, but HBO set the prices, not Apple, and to be honest...£23.99 for a whole season of a show (13 50 minute episodes) is very good. If you like mob/gangster things, in the more traditional godfather vein rather than a Guy Ritchie movie, you'll love this. The best part about the show is how the character of Tony Soprano surprises you. He's a bit like Homer Simpson, he's not the nicest guy in the world, but he loves his family.

The Sopranos isn't TV; it's art.
It's a slow burning epic tale with complex characters that are utterly reprehensible, but equally lovable.

Never really have alot of time for TV so missed out on this when all my friends were raving about it yrs ago. Now thanks to iTunes & my iPod touch I am seeing what all the fuss was about. Magical writing combining powerful violence / dark comedy / and vunerability. I am glued to it. Out of interest why are some people complaining about the price. £1.89 an episode straight onto my iPod is a bargain for an hr of loosing urself to the world of Tony Soprano ;-)

terrific show, this is where you begin. compared to the other seasons, its not quite 5 stars but its only because its laying the groundwork for the future. the godfather references are painfully plenty and has the only "before opening title scene" in the entire show that totally lacks direction. its a bit like the first film of a triogy, its preparing, building up momentem.
these are minor quibbles though, once you'll start watching the show, you'll probably continue to. DVD is the place to do it though. £24 to watch one of the greats on a small screen is too much of a payoff, the dvds can be easily found for less.

The most consistantly excellent TV series ever. EVER.

Brilliant. Twin Peaks was great, but ran out of juice mid-flow. This show exhibits some of the best writing for television I've ever seen. Buy all seven series and lock yourself away for a week. You'll emerge better for it. And quit your yapping about price. It retails at around £40 in the shops, making this one of the TV series on itunes that is actually priced reasonably. If only all television were this good. It raised the bar so high, it's gonna be a while before it's bettered.

About the prices on Itunes - Let's face facts here, no other site can offer the range of products Itunes does and we would all be lost without it.
As for the series, It's superb and it's such a treat to be able to watch the episodes on my Iphone.

The best programme to ever grace our televisions. I have all 7 box sets on DVD & would love to have on Ipod too, but too pricey - Itunes - sort the prive out!!!
